Prayer is one of the ways to communicate with God Almighty to intervene in the affairs of man. Whenever we face difficulties, God in His Word enjoined us to talk to Him in prayers. But many treat prayer as the last option whenever they face problems. Some have the belief that God is slow in answering prayers thereby going for alternatives. The assumption that God is slow to answer prayers is far from the truth. The Bible says in Isaiah 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. And the psalmist said, because God answers prayers, all flesh will come to Him. Ps 65:2
The one and only stumbling block against prayer remains sin. Why? Because God is too Holy to look at sin. Hab 1:13. Sin causes separation between God and man’s answers to prayers on earth while it brings eternal separation in heaven. Isa 59:1-2. God does not and cannot answer the prayers of sinners. If God doesn’t answer sinners’ prayers, why do they prosper? Matt 5:45 is the answer to the above question.
