NIDO America hereby disassociates its self from a statement being circulated by Prof. Apolllos Okwuchi Nwauwa, Mr. Gabriel Ndubuisi George, and Mrs. Patience N. Key. Apart from stoking treasonable charges against President Muhammadu Buhari, the statement demands the president to mandate all Nigerian “herdsmen to return to their own farmlands, and then earmark specific lands within the Fulani enclave for grazing and to which the herdsmen should be restricted.” (See attached the original dated mail and attached doc in png format below).

The general public should dismiss the archaic statement as a litany of delusional self-serving rhetoric rather than genuine concern for common good. While the recent heinous activities of the herdsmen ought to be condemned by all, any statement suggestive of every Nigerian to return and be restricted in their area is pea-brained. Such inflammatory innuendo does nothing but fuel wholesale xenophobia as well as deeper ethnic crisis.

NIDO America is a non-partisan organization and must resist the naked attempt by a political party to collude with some radicalized ethnic jingoists within the organization to incite crisis in Nigeria. It should be recalled that the Executive Committees of NIDO America/USA under Attorney Samuel Adewusi (ex-Chairman, NIDO America); Mr. Gabriel Ndubuisi George (ex-Chairman, NIDO USA); and Prof. Apollos Nwauwa (ex-General Secretary, NIDO USA) were dissolved effective from 28th May, 2016 for false propaganda against the state among other reasons. Hence the organization is currently placed under an interim committee headed by the Hon. Chiwuikem Ihediwa.
