Basic Scriptures: Luke 1:26-37
There is this pathetic story of a young man who stood up in a crowded room and loudly exclaimed: “Excuse me everybody, excuse me; can I please have your attention ladies and gentle men for a few seconds?” Immediately, silence enveloped the hall and cold hush ran across the noisy crowd, with every eye firmly fixed on him. As soon as he got their attention, the young man like an Olympic record holder, calmly informed the anxious crowd: “Oh thank you everyone, I just love your attention,” then he sat down! What a soul! But do you know like this pathetic young man, thousands are looking daily for the praise and attention of men, EVEN IN THE CHURCH?
When Saul was asked why he disobeyed God, his reply was: “But the people took of the spoil, sheep and the chief of the things…” – 1 Sam 15:21. He put the blame on the people. He loved the attention of men! Note in the contrary, that when he was in distress and the people wanted to stone David, the Word says that instead of David seeking for people’s sympathy, opinions and attention, he asked Abiathar the priest to seek the face of God through ephod. He was interested in seeking God’s attention.
No wonder, he is still unparalleled in Israel and no wonder the Master Man – Jesus, came as the son of David. In all you do, refuse to seek for the attention or the praise of men because your Announcer, Rewarder and promoter is God! Pride and seeking to be a friend of all will only take you early to the land with double signpost: DISHONOUR AND DISGRACE. Oh! Hear Benjamin Franklin: “Be civil to all, social to many, familiar with few; friend to one, enemy to none. As 2017 ends, do things without expecting praise from men or women. Love of praise have brought down many great stars and potential stars! Don’t be the next victim! Pray now!

4. Let every wicked plan of my stubborn enemies, turn against them in Jesus name (Pray it seriously).
