Topic: Curb That Anger [13/8/2016]

Text: Ecclesiastes 7:9

Anger is one of the biggest instigators of strife. Any person that is angry will always be vengeful. Anger is a vice (not a virtue at all). It is a destroyer of any form of relationship. It is only a fool that would be vengeful and destroy instead of  build. Little wonder Ecclesiastes 7:9 says “anger resteth in the bosom of fools.” Even God is slow to anger, and He wants us to be like Him in this regard.

Instead of anger for man’s sins, God in His mercies, not only provided the payment for sin, but forgives us if we sin, still (1 John 2:1). In anger, wars have been fought, people have been killed and maimed, with destinies cut short in the process. In anger, wrong decisions have been made that have had devastating effects. In anger, families have been dismembered. There is nothing to be desired about an angry person. Proverbs 22:24 says: “Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go.”

As sons and daughters of God, we must not allow anger get the best of us. If we are quick to get angry, we must through the sword of the spirit – the Word of God, cut it off our lives. If we allow anger to fester in us, we will end up being vengeful and destructive. But that’s not the path of the wise. Immeasurable strength is shown by a man or woman who is slow to anger. Proverbs 16:32 says: “he that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.” It is wisdom not to be angry, so curb every form of anger in you.

Keep winning daily.

Wise Action:
Take conscious steps to deal with every trace of anger in your life, through God’s Word. Walk away from every scenario that will steer up anger in you.
