Topic: Humble Breeds Exaltation [16/5/2016]
Text: 1 Peter 5:5-6

One of the biggest lessons we must learn from the life of Jesus is to be humble. Jesus, who is God, not only humbled himself to take a based of form (human flesh), He also humbled himself to bear the shame of sin, taking the very nature of satan, and lastly, suffered the most humiliating of execution, being hung on a cross meant for criminals. But at the end, He was given a name above all name. He was exalted above all else (Philippians 2:5-11).

Humility breeds exaltation. For you to attain the height God has planned for you, you must be humble enough to fit into it. Pride is a default setting in man. It is natural for human beings to exhibit pride or “inordinate” self-esteem, being conceited because of status, talent, wealth, beauty, etc. Unfortunately, everyone that exhibits pride is self sabotaging his/her self, for God resists the proud (1 Peter 5:5).

We must learn to exorcise pride and be clothed with humility, coming under authority,  not thinking of yourself more highly than you ought to, drawing the line between self esteem and self conceited. So, “humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time” (1 Peter 5:6). It is only the humble that can enjoy God’s exaltation, through His grace (James 4:6,10).

Keep winning daily.

Prayer:
Dear Father, thank You for Your Word. I humble myself under Your leadership and every leadership You have placed above me, in absolute obedience, and I receive grace to be exalted in all sphere of life, in Jesus name. Amen.
