A Promise For You From Bible Promises:

Topic: Give Your Way Out Of Poverty [12/09/2016]

And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and, behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die. 1 Kings 17:12. Read: 1 kings 17:9-16

Giving is living. In this time of hardship in our land, many have become tight-fisted not because they’re givers before, but because they were never givers. In spite of the hardship, many are still Liberal, they still give as if they’re not feeling what others are feeling. This is because before the hardship, they were givers. Pro 11:24-25. The harsh economy didn’t change many people’s attitude of giving, it only reveals who they really are. Jesus recounting the above account in Luke 4:25-26, He said many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, unto none of them was Elias sent but unto Sarepta, a widow.

Her action shows that she was a generous woman which was why God sent His servant to her. In spite of the famine, she gave her way out of poverty. Not only did she give her way out of poverty, she also gave her way out of death- she lived. She told the man of God, my son and I will eat the last meal and die, but, by God’s grace through her generosity, she and her family lived till the famine ended. Apart from divine idea we saw yesterday, giving is another way to survive this recession in our land.
