TOPIC: Training According To Pattern
READ: Ephesians 4:12-16 (NKJV)
- for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ,
- till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;
- that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,
- but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head — Christ —
- from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
THE MESSAGE:
The body of Christ is blessed with the gift of men, many of whom are apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. Regardless of their varied graces, there is a place where these graces are to converge, and this is in Jesus Christ. These men are to train us to the point where each of us becomes like Christ, both in life and in the work of the ministry. The goal is to train us to become mature people, reaching to the very height of Christ’s full stature.
Today, we have many persons who claim to be apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists and teachers, without understanding the importance of the accompanying task. The effect of this in the body of Christ is that we have Christians who have been long in the faith but who still need babysitting, tossed to and fro, and carried about by every wind of doctrine. The condition of the Church today is as in the days when the judges ruled (Judges 2:18-19) and of the people, even so, our pastors focus on healing, deliverance, miracles others to be like them. Who do you mentor or train? Ponder on this.
PRAYER: Father, please help me to be focused on Jesus Christ, and learn of Him.
