READ: Proverbs 28:1-9 (NKJV)

  1. The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion.
  2. Because of the transgression of a land, many [are] its princes; But by a man of understanding [and] knowledge Right will be prolonged.
  3. A poor man who oppresses the poor [Is like] a driving rain which leaves no food.
  4. Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, But such as keep the law contend with them.
  5. Evil men do not understand justice, But those who seek the LORD understand all.
  6. Better [is] the poor who walks in his integrity Than one perverse [in his] ways, though he [be] rich.
  7. Whoever keeps the law [is] a discerning son, But a companion of gluttons shames his father.
  8. One who increases his possessions by usury and extortion Gathers it for him who will pity the poor.
  9. One who turns away his ear from hearing the law, Even his prayer [is] an abomination.

THE MESSAGE:

One of the wonderful moral tools God puts in a man is the conscience. A guilty conscience is a relentless pursuer, driving a person to flee from imaginary threats and to avoid unseen eyes. This is the case of the wicked who engages in praising wickedness, oppression, and injustice because of selfishness. Even when no one is actually threatening them, the wicked, prompted by a guilty conscience, shame and fear of judgment, become fearful and suspicious of everyone. This happens to them because God is not pleased with them.

God’s righteous ones are however confident and bold-standing even when persecuted for Christ’s sake. They are bold as a lion because God upholds them. They know that His grace is bigger than any mistake, and His forgiveness more powerful than any guilt. You can be bold and courageous by turning to Christ who sets free from all sin, guilt, shame and fear. Jesus washes from all wickedness and makes the righteous face anything with confidence and boldness. Dip yourself in the truth of God’s love. When you understand the depth of His love for you, guilt loses its grip. When you realize that you are covered by His grace, fear dies.

PRAYER: Father, help me to be bold on account of Your provision, strength, grace, and help.
