TOPIC: When You Don’t Understand (Open Heaven for Teens, 5 November 2025)

MEMORISE: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. 1 Peter 5:7

BIBLE READING: Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

MESSAGE:

Things can get really discomforting when you are not getting answers to situations that unsettle your mind. For example, when Job lost his children and properties in one day, he must have been close to losing his mind. He did not know why those bad things happened to him in quick succession, and everyone around him could not help salvage the situation. In fact, they added salt to his injury by giving him several pieces of advice that would have turned him against God had he followed them. They told him, “Curse God and die!”

Whenever you are faced with an unpleasant situation that defies human reasoning, you must be careful not to curse God. Today’s Bible reading tells us to trust in God with our hearts and acknowledge Him, and He shall direct our paths.

My dear child, God knows and wants what is best for you. No matter the uncomfortable situations you have faced or are currently going through, continue to trust in Him even if you do not understand them. God has the power to make you overcome every situation.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, please help me to trust You more.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Ezekiel 12:1-14:11, Hebrews 7:1-17

HYMN 64 – When Upon Life’s Billows You Are Tempest Tossed

1 When upon life’s billows you
are tempest tossed
When you are discouraged,
thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings,
name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what
the Lord hath done.

Chorus
Count your blessings,
name them one by one;
Count your blessings,
see what God hath done;
Count your blessings,
name them one by one,
Count your many blessings, see what God hath done.

2 Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, ev’ry doubt will fly,
And you will be singing as the days go by.

3 When you look at others with their lands and gold,
Think that Christ has promised you His wealth untold;
Count your many blessings, money cannot buy
Your reward in heaven, nor your home on high.

4 So, amid the conflict, whether great or small,
Do not be discouraged, God is over all;
Count your many blessings, angels will attend,
Help and comfort give you to your journey’s end.
