TOPIC – Be Wise

READ: Proverbs 30:24-33 (NKJV)

  1. There are four [things which] are little on the earth, But they [are] exceedingly wise:
  2. The ants [are] a people not strong, Yet they prepare their food in the summer;
  3. The rock badgers are a feeble folk, Yet they make their homes in the crags;
  4. The locusts have no king, Yet they all advance in ranks;
  5. The spider skillfully grasps with its hands, And it is in kings’ palaces.
  6. There are three [things which] are majestic in pace, Yes, four [which] are stately in walk:
  7. A lion, [which is] mighty among beasts And does not turn away from any;
  8. A greyhound, A male goat also, And a king [whose] troops [are] with him.
  9. If you have been foolish in exalting yourself, Or if you have devised evil, [put your] hand on [your] mouth.
  10. For [as] the churning of milk produces butter, And wringing the nose produces blood, So the forcing of wrath produces strife.

THE MESSAGE:

Everything we need to live a successful and fulfilling life is in the Bible. In our text, we are exposed to basic realities that can help us to improve our lives. For instance, the ants teach us good preparation. We also learn from the ant how to save when supply is abundant so that when there is a scarcity, we have something to fall back on (verse 25). Badgers are weak yet they make strong and secured places to live in (verse 26). This teaches us to see the provision of shelter as important for us. Locusts teach us cooperation and order (verse 27) while from the spider, we learn to be fearless as this insect does not allow its small nature to deter it from boldly entering the home of the powerful (verse 28).

It is often said that he who fails to plan, has planned to fail. A major reason many people today lie about their age is the fear of retirement, and this is the result of lack of planning. We waste our fortune when they come and create pressure for ourselves when those opportunities are gone. Learn from the ants to be proactive. Learn from the badger to be safety-conscious. Learn the gain of cooperation wherever you are from the locust. Fear and inferiority complex can stop us from meeting people that can help us. We must shun it.

Finally, we must note that the principles above negate the view of gambling as a way of building one’s fortune. Follow the teaching of the scripture and it shall be well with you.

PRAYER POINT: Ask God to help you to be diligent in your business and to plan your life intentionally.
