BIBLE READING: Matthew 25:19-28 (KJV)

19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

MESSAGE:

A steward is a person who manages the property or affairs of another person. In today’s Bible reading, we see how a master commended two of his servants for multiplying the resources he gave to them and punished the one who buried his resources. This parable, told by Jesus, points to the fact that we have all been given resources by God and one day, He will ask us to give an account of how we used them while on earth.

Beloved, it breaks God’s heart when a fellow buries or wastes the resources He has given to him or her. In John 6:5- 13, after feeding the multitude, Jesus asked that His disciples gather the fragments of food that were left. This shows that God expects you to be a good steward, thereby appropriately managing the things that have been committed into your hands at school, at home, and in your church. One day, the Master will ask you to give an account of everything. l pray you will not be found wanting, in Jesus’ name.

ACTION POINT:

List three resources or gifts that you have, and be more intentional about using them to impact people around you positively.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Daniel 4:1-37 2, Peter 1:1-21

HYMN 12: Onward Christian Soldiers

1 Onward, Christian
soldiers, marching as to War,
With the cross of Jesus going on before!
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle, see his banner go!

Refrain:
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of JesUs going on before!

2 At the name of Jesus Satan’s host doth flee;
On, then, Christian soldiers, on to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices, loud your anthems raise!
Refrain

3 Like a mighty army moves the church of God:
Brothers, we are treading
where the saints have trod;
We are not divided; all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.
Refrain

4 Crowns and thrones may perish,
Kingdoms rise and wane;
But the church Jesus constant will remain:
Gates of hell can never ‘gainst that church prevail
We have Christ’s own promise and that cannot fail
Refrain

5 0nward, then, ye people,
join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices,
in the triumph song;
Glory, praise and honour,
unto Christ the King;
This through countless ages,
men and angels sing.
Refrain
