TOPIC: Crying Unto God In Crisis (DCLM Daily Manna 27 December 2025)
KEY VERSE: “Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily”(Psalm 102:2).
TEXT: Psalm 102:1-11 (KJV)
1 Hear my prayer, O Lord, and let my cry come unto thee.
2 Hide not thy face from me in the day when I am in trouble; incline thine ear unto me: in the day when I call answer me speedily.
3 For my days are consumed like smoke, and my bones are burned as an hearth.
4 My heart is smitten, and withered like grass; so that I forget to eat my bread.
5 By reason of the voice of my groaning my bones cleave to my skin.
6 I am like a pelican of the wilderness: I am like an owl of the desert.
7 I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.
8 Mine enemies reproach me all the day; and they that are mad against me are sworn against me.
9 For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my drink with weeping.
10 Because of thine indignation and thy wrath: for thou hast lifted me up, and cast me down.
11 My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.
DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
Paul Lee Tan wrote an interesting illustration titled The Devil’s Best Tool. He says, “The devil, according to legend, once advertised his tools for sale at a public auction. When the prospective buyers assembled, one oddly-shaped tool was labelled “Not for sale.” Asked to explain why this was, the devil answered, “I can spare my other tools, but I cannot spare this one. It is the most useful implement that I have. It is called Discouragement, and with it I can work my way into hearts otherwise inaccessible. When I get this tool into a man’s heart, the way is open to plant anything there I may desire.”
In this passage, we see how the psalmist battles discouragement as he cries out to God about his affliction and crises. Though the answers and relieve seem delayed, he demonstrated the power of prayer. Amidst all the troubles, he still trusted God and pleaded that He should answer his prayer.
Experiences in life have shown that no one is immune from the challenges of life. The challenges of loneliness, ill health, mishaps, worries, and anxiety about economic survival among others can weigh down the strongest of men. It worsens if one prays and the prayer seems not to go beyond the roof, with no assurance that God will answer. It is at that time that we must remain persistent and importunate because God has promised to answer our prayers if we call upon Him wholeheartedly.
Crying unto God in times of trouble does not imply we are weak; it demonstrates our confidence in God’s unfailing capacity to help us. Therefore, let us bring all our challenges to God in prayer so that the devil’s tool of discouragement will have no power over our hearts.
