TOPIC: Continue In The Word (TREM Devotional 14 January 2026)

“Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” – John 8:31–32 (KJV)

MESSAGE

Jesus spoke these words to Jews who already believed in Him. They had faith, yet they still lacked understanding of the truth. In essence, Jesus was saying, “Though you believe, you still need to know the truth.” And then He pointed them to where the truth is found, the Word of God.

Beloved, the Word of God is infallible, errorless, and impregnable. If you continue steadfastly in the Word, no manipulation or deception can overpower you. The truth of the Word liberates; it establishes and preserves those who remain in it.

You have a personal responsibility to study the Word diligently and consistently. What kind of pastor or believer are you if you only open your Bible on Saturday just because you need to preach on Sunday? Who told you that the purpose of reading Scripture is merely to find a sermon topic?

The Bible was not given to you simply to gather preaching material, it was given to transform your life. Ministry flows from the overflow of a life saturated with the Word. You preach, teach, and serve out of what God has first worked into you.

If you’re still searching for verses merely to impress people or stir emotions, you’ve missed the point. The Word must change you first before it can change others through you. When the truth fills your heart, what flows from your lips will be pure and powerful, a river of life to those who hear you.

You must study! Without the Word, you remain vulnerable to error and spiritual stagnation. God is not a subject to be studied like geography or history. He is a revelation to be pursued and known. As you press on in study and devotion, He reveals Himself more deeply.

So, let your heart burn with an insatiable hunger for the Word. Never grow weary of studying the Scriptures. Rejoice in them! As the Psalmist declared, “I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.” – Psalm 119:162 (KJV)
