BIBLE PASSAGE: Numbers 13:27-31 (KJV) (Scroll down for RCCG Sunday School 18 January 2026 HYMN)

27 And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.

28 Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.

29 The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

30 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.

31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

INTRODUCTION: Resourcefulness is the ability to deal creatively and effectively with challenges, finding innovative and practical solutions using the available resources. This means using what you have rather than what you would like to have to succeed. Operationally, it is defined as making wise use of what others would normally overlook and finding opportunities where others see limitations (1 Samuel 17:49). It is a skill that is not just helpful but essential for both personal and professional growth, especially in a world where change is constant and resources (such as man, money, materials and machines) are often limited.

LESSON OUTLINES

  1. UNDERSTAND RESOURCEFULNESS
  2. CULTIVATE RESOURCEFULNESS

1. UNDERSTAND RESOURCEFULNESS

Resourcefulness requires a problem-solving mindset. This is an attitude that views problems as challenges to be solved rather than insurmountable. This mindset allows for proactive thinking and helps individuals take initiative (Numbers 13:30; Joshua 14:7-8). It entails being flexible enough to adapt or adjust quickly to new conditions and challenges (Daniel 1:11-1). Resourceful persons think creatively. Like world-great innovators, they think outside the box, question the status quo, and often come up with innovative ways to solve problems or streamline processes (Exodus 31:2-5; Jeremiah 18:3-4). The focus of resourceful persons is on how to make the most of what is within reach rather than what is not available (Judges 15:14-16; Judges 3:31). Staying committed to goals even when the path is rough is one of the qualities of a resourceful person (Luke 18:1-5).

Being resourceful helps individuals to grow by challenging the team to develop new skills and learn how to solve complex problems (Nehemiah 4:11-18). It drives innovation, increases efficiency (to accomplish more with fewer resources), and maintains a high level of productivity despite constraints (Matthew 25:19-28). It enhances leadership.

2. CULTIVATE RESOURCEFULNESS

  1. Develop a positive mindset and believe that every problem has a solution (Mark 9:23).
  2. Seek knowledge and be open to new ideas (Proverbs 18:15).
  3. Practice adaptability by embracing change (Ruth 2:2, 17-18; 1 Corinthians 9:22).
  4. Leverage what you have by taking stock of your available resources and asking yourself how you can use them more effectively (Proverbs 31:16).
  5. Stay persistent. Keep trying different strategies
  6. Above all, allow the Holy Spirit to help you. John 2:20, 27

CONCLUSION: Being resourceful will help you to make the most out of any situation.

QUESTIONS:

  1. Explain what it means to be resourceful.
  2. What should you do to be resourceful?

FURTHER READINGS:

Sunday: 2 Kings 7:8-9 (KJV)
8 And when these lepers came to the uttermost part of the camp, they went into one tent, and did eat and drink, and carried thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went and hid it; and came again, and entered into another tent, and carried thence also, and went and hid it. 9 Then they said one to another, We do not well: this day is a day of good tidings, and we hold our peace: if we tarry till the morning light, some mischief will come upon us: now therefore come, that we may go and tell the king’s household.

Monday: Ephesians 3:7-9 (KJV)
7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.

8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

Tuesday: Matthew 25:19 (KJV)
After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

Wednesday: Nehemiah 4:17 (KJV)
They which builded on the wall, and they that bare burdens, with those that laded, every one with one of his hands wrought in the work, and with the other hand held a weapon.

Thursday: Nehemiah 2:17-18 (KJV)
17 Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach. 18 Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king’s words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work.

Friday: 1 Chronicles 11:11-13 (KJV)
11 And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time. 12 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighties. 13 He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines.

Saturday: Genesis 1:28-30 (KJV)
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. 29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

ASSIGNMENT: Students should identify five ways to become resourceful (2×5=10 Marks).
