MEMORY VERSE: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. – Romans 12:2 (KJV)
BIBLE PASSAGE: Daniel 3:16-20, 28-29 (KJV)
Daniel 3:16-20
16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.
17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.
19 Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.
20 And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.
Daniel 3:28-29
28 Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king’s word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.
29 Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.
INTRODUCTION: Agents of transformation are men and women who change things from the way they used to be for the betterment of all. They are people who see a possibility for a new ‘normal’ and can motivate others to work together towards the achievement of that goal (Nehemiah 2:17-18). As a result, agents of transformation are highly sought after in schools, churches, corporate organisations and other areas of life.

LESSON OUTLINES
- THE QUALITIES
- HOW TO BE ONE
LESSON OUTLINES 1: THE QUALITIES
A. The teacher should allow students to discuss some qualities of transformational agents.
B. The teacher should then guide the class as follows:
Agents of transformation possess qualities rooted in biblical principles. Here are some of the key qualities:
- Visionary Leadership: They see possibilities where others see limits, aligning their vision with God’s will (Proverbs 29:18a).
- Compassion: They recognise and address the needs of others (Galatians 6:2).
- Integrity: Maintaining integrity helps them build credibility and ensures trust (Proverbs 20:7).
- Humility: They are lowly enough to embrace ideas from others. This promotes unity and collaboration (Philippians 2:3).
- Boldness: Faith in God and courage enable bold actions, empowering them to challenge the status quo (Joshua 1:9).
- Wisdom and Adaptability: Through God’s wisdom, they discern the times and adjust their approach accordingly (James 1:5).
- Perseverance: They persevere through challenges (Philippians 4:13) and are patient to overcome any resistance to change (Galatians 6:9).
CLASS ACTIVITY 1: Mention an agent of transformation known to you.
LESSON OUTLINES 2: HOW TO BE ONE
A. The class should discuss how to become an agent of transformation.
B. The teacher should guide the class follows:
To become an agent of transformation, you need the following:
- Surrender: Transformation begins with a personal relationship with God and submission to His plan. By allowing God to renew your mind, you become a vessel for His transformative work (Romans 12:1-2).
- Vision: Ask God to reveal His idea for the specific area of change you are called to lead (Jeremiah 29:11).
- God’s Word: Studying and applying God’s word equips you with faith, wisdom, counsel, and authority to navigate uncertainties, and persevere through challenges to lead the change (Proverbs 3:5-6; 2 Timothy 3:15-17).
- Service: Serving others is one way to effect needed change. Live a life that reflects the change you wish to see in others. Your actions and character serve as a testimony to God’s transformative power (Matthew 5:16).
- Love and Compassion: Desire to see others thrive by addressing their needs and building meaningful connections (1 Corinthians 16:14).
- Disciple: Raising others ensures the change is sustained and expanded to new areas (2 Timothy 2:1-2).
- Pray: Prayer connects your efforts with God’s will and invites His intervention in the process (Colossians 4:2).
CLASS ACTIVITY 2: Have you ever caused a positive change in any area, share your experience
CONCLUSION: As an agent of transformation, you can inspire profound, God-honouring change, wherever you find yourself.
EVALUATION: Identify five qualities of an agent of transformation.
CLOSING PRAYER: Holy Spirit, use me to start a powerful movement in my generation in Jesus’ name.
ASSIGNMENT: Students should observe negative trends around them and prayerfully identify possible solutions that will change the narratives (No Marks)
SUNDAY SCHOOL HYMN
- O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
O how I love Thee well,
I am happy, it makes me glad
To rejoice at Thy birth. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Thy friend friendship suits me well,
Both young and will sing Thy song,
We long for Sunday School. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Christ was Thy first teacher,
The Holy Spirit, great teacher,
Does manifest in thee. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
This testimony is sure,
That God, the Father Almighty,
Poured His blessing on Thee - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day,
Though the sun be so bright,
Or if the clouds be black with rain,
I’ll be in Sunday School. - O Sunday School, on the Lord’s day
I rejoice to see Thee,
Will thou pass over me today?
Without my being blest?
