TOPIC: The Lord Has Chosen Zion

READ: Psalm 132:10-18 (KJV)

10 For thy servant David’s sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.

11 The Lord hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.

12 If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.

13 For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.

14 This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.

15 I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread.

16 I will also clothe her priests with salvation: and her saints shall shout aloud for joy.

17 There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.

18 His enemies will I clothe with shame: but upon himself shall his crown flourish.

THE MESSAGE:

Mount Zion is a hill in Jerusalem and the most significant of all the sacred places in Biblical times. In Abraham’s time, it was called Mount Moriah, and that was where God provided a ram for sacrifice in place of his son, Isaac (Genesis 22:2,13). Solomon later built the temple there (2 Chronicles 3:1). Verses 13-14 echo the long association of Zion with the presence of God, while verse 15 refers to it as a source of blessing. Zion is also referred to as a source of help, salvation, righteousness, strength, and refuge (verses 16-17; Psalm 20:2;110:2; Joel 3:16). Indeed, the Lord has chosen Zion!

In the same way, if you have given your life to Christ, the Lord has chosen you as His own dwelling place and His own possession. You have become a new creation, a chosen generation, and a royal priest (2 Corinthians 5:17; 1 Peter 2:9). You have become the apple of God’s eyes, and God has become jealous for you, just as He is jealous for Zion (Zechariah 2:8, 8:2). Have you been chosen by God? If you have not, do not let this privilege pass you by. Commit your life to Him today and become a member of God’s family!

PRAYER: Thank You, LORD, for choosing me as Your child. Enable me to remain in You always.
