TOPIC: Examine Your Heart (TREM Devotional 11 February 2026)
“And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.” – Luke 16:15 (KJV)
MESSAGE
Beloved, as ministers of the gospel, there is often a temptation to impress people. This desire for human approval can lead many to compromise and pursue superficial measures of success. Everyone wants to be counted as a “successful” minister, boasting about cars, houses, or influence.
But the critical question is: Who are you really? What motivates you? What sustains you in your ministry?
God reminded Samuel, “Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him…” 1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV). Don’t judge by outward appearances or public acclaim. Eliab, for instance, seemed perfect by human standards, yet God rejected him.
Shockingly, many individuals whom God has rejected are still active in ministry. They preach from pulpits, participate in church activities, and occupy positions of influence, but God sees beyond the surface.
“For the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7 (KJV)
God evaluates the heart. This applies to every believer, not just ministers. Examine your life carefully. What kind of Christian are you outside the church building? When the cameras are off, the lights are out, and the applause fades, how do you live? How do you behave? How do others truly perceive you?
At the end of the day, no one can police your heart for you. It is a matter of personal integrity and inner accountability. Your Christian life begins in the heart, what you cultivate there will determine your authenticity before God and men.
