TOPIC: Make Sacrifices For Others (Open Heaven for Teens, 28 March 2026)

MEMORISE: Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. John 15:13

BIBLE READING: PHILIPPIANS 2:1-3

1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

MESSAGE:

When we make sacrifices for others, we reflect God’s love, and it is also a powerful way to strengthen our relationship with them. In today’s memory verse, Jesus taught that true love involves selflessness, even to the point of sacrificing one’s life for his or her friends. Sadly, some teenagers today preach only self-love. This is dangerous because God has called us to be humble and considerate of others’ needs. If we focus only on self-love, it will lead to selfishness.

Consider the boy who had five loaves of bread and two small fishes in John 6:1-14. He must have needed his lunch, but when he saw that Jesus had a need, he willingly let go of his meal. Although he may not have believed that it could feed the multitude, his act of kindness led to over five thousand people being fed, with twelve baskets of leftovers remaining!

My dear child, you can make sacrifices for others by giving your time, comfort, or resources to help them. See making sacrifices for others as opportunities to give to God. When you make sacrifices for others wholeheartedly, God will honour your sacrifices and multiply your seed.

KEY POINT:

With your parents’ permission, gather some things in your house that you haven’t used in the last three years, and donate them to your church’s welfare department or any welfare organisations around you.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Luke 6:1-26, Joshua 21-22

HYMN 9: My Soul Is So Happy In Jesus

1 My soul is so happy in Jesus,
For He is so precious to me;
His voice it is music to hear it,
His face it is Heaven to see.

Chorus
I am happy in Him;)2x
My soul with delight
He fills day and night
For I am happy in Him

2 He sought me so long ere I knew Him,
When wand’ring afar from the fold;
Safe home in His arms He hath bro’t me,
To where there are pleasures untold.

3 His love and His mercy surround me,
His grace like a river doth flow;
His Spirit, to guide and to comfort,
Is with me wherever I go.

4 They say I shall some day be like Him,
My cross and my burden lay down;
Till then I will ever be faithful,
In gathering gems for His crown.
