TOPIC – Intercede For Your Leaders (Open Heaven for Teens, 12 June 2026)
MEMORISE: The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, like the rivers of water; He turns it wherever He wishes. – Proverbs 21:1
BIBLE READING: 1 Timothy 2:1-4
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
MESSAGE:
Leaders play a crucial role in the progress of the group and people they lead. Their character, well-being, decision-making process, and circle of friends have a great impact on their followers. This is why it is important for you to pray for your leaders. If you want to experience the goodness and benefits of any group or organisation you belong to, you need to pray for its leaders.

One of the reasons you need to pray for leaders is so that they can make positive decisions which will impact your life. When they make mistakes, don’t castigate them; instead, pray for them to see the error in their actions and do the right things. If you are in a privileged position and are close to them, you can correct them in love so they won’t lead others astray.
My dear child, someday, you too will become a leader in one capacity or another. If you sow prayers into the lives of your leaders now, you will harvest God’s favour and wisdom when you also become a leader. Therefore, you should cultivate the habit of always praying for your leaders in all spheres of life.
KEY POINT:
It is good to intercede for leaders.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Mark 14:51-72, Deuteronomy 23-25
HYMN 7: Sweet Hour Of Prayer
1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
That calls me from a world of care,
And bids me at my Father’s throne
Make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
My soul has often found relief,
And oft escaped the tempter’s snare,
By thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
The joys I feel, the bliss I share,
Of those whose anxious spirits burn
With strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
Where God my Savior shows His face,
And gladly take my station there,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
3 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
Thy wings shall my petition bear
To Him whose truth and faithfulness
Engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since He bids me seek His face,
Believe His Word and trust His grace,
I’ll cast on Him my every care,
And wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
4 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
May I thy consolation share,
Till, from Mount Pisgah’s lofty height,
I view my home and take my flight.
This robe of flesh I’ll drop, and rise
To seize the everlasting prize,
And shout, while passing through the air,
“Farewell, farewell, sweet hour of prayer!”
