TOPIC – The Language Of The Spirit (Open Heaven for Teens, 12 July 2026)

MEMORISE: And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. – Acts 2:4

BIBLE READING: Acts 2:1-4

1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

MESSAGE:

A major evidence that you have been baptised in the Holy Spirit is that you can speak in tongues. The importance of speaking the language of the Spirit cannot be overemphasised; it is a way of building yourself up in faith. If you want to build spiritual muscles, pray in tongues more.

Jude 1:20 says:
But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

Another thing the language of the Spirit does is to help believers to pray the mind of God. There are times when you might be going through a challenge and you don’t even know what to say about it or how to pray concerning it. At such times, it is best to pray in tongues. Speaking in tongues is a gift that believers receive as a manifestation of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and it is important to use this gift when praying. When you pray in tongues, you are speaking mysteries and praying the will of the Father. You are also allowing the Holy Spirit to intervene in your situation and sort things out for you.

My dear child, I want you to know that you need the power of the Holy Spirit to navigate through life. Therefore, you need to make praying in tongues a lifestyle. Try to pray in tongues for at least thirty minutes daily, as this would help build your spiritual muscles and energise you.

Quiz: Who said this? I thank my God that | speak with tongues more than you all.

REFLECTION:
How often do you pray in tongues?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
HYMN 22 – Sweet Hour Of Prayer!

1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father’s throne
make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief,
my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter’s snare
by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!

2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
the joys I feel, the bliss I share
of those whose anxious spirits burn
with strong desires for thy return!
With such I hasten to the place
where God my Savior shows his face,
and gladly take my station there,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

3 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer!
thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulness
engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face,
believe his word, and trust his grace,
I’ll cast on him my every care,
and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!
