TOPIC: Waiting In God’s Presence
READ: Micah 7:14-17 (KJV)
14 Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thine heritage, which dwell solitarily in the wood, in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old.
15 According to the days of thy coming out of the land of Egypt will I shew unto him marvellous things.
16 The nations shall see and be confounded at all their might: they shall lay their hand upon their mouth, their ears shall be deaf.
17 They shall lick the dust like a serpent, they shall move out of their holes like worms of the earth: they shall be afraid of the Lord our God, and shall fear because of thee.
THE MESSAGE:
The waiting room, for most people, is one of the least favourite places to be. Whether in a doctor’s office, in a bank or at the airport, it reflects a condition of wanting to be in some place else but not being able to get there, at least for the moment. It’s where God tests our commitment and grows our faith. It’s here we prepare for the next leg of the journey. As we wait on the Lord, we learn and experience trust (Habakkuk 2:3). Immediate answers to prayer are wonderful, but more often than not, waiting is involved to see the promise fulfilled.
The task at hand is the name of the room: The waiting room! When you are in the waiting room, understand your assignment, which is to wait! It isn’t easy to wait. It demands holding on when common sense says “give-up.” It says “believe” when there is no present evidence to back it up. Faith is built in delay. Character is built in delay. The ‘building’ is the gap between the promise and the fulfilment. As gold is purified and shaped in the heat, so we and our faith are purified and shaped in waiting. Do not fail in prayers, confession of God’s word, giving and worship. You’re close to your answers.
PRAYER: Father, give me the grace to patiently wait for Your leading in all my pursuit. Amen!
