OPENING PRAYER: Father, grant me grace to utilise the ministry of angels effectively for my benefit.

PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The leaders should remind the members of last week on “a positive mark on earth”

MEMORY VERSE: Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation? – Hebrews 1:14 (KJV)

BIBLE TEXT: Hebrews 1:13-14 (KJV)

13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

LESSON INTRODUCTION: God speaks to man in many ways; God could speak directly to man through dreams, visions and the gifts of the Holy Spirit. He uses many agencies too. Among many agencies God uses to minister to man are the bible, circumstances, other believers and angels.

LESSON AIM: To study the ministry of angels.

TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able:

  • To explain that angels are created beings for divine purpose
  • To describe how angels serve God.

TEXT REVIEW: Hebrews 1:13-14

  • God never said to an angel to sit in honour at His right hand as He did to His Son.
  • Enemies of God’s children are designed to be humiliated.
  • Angels are God’s servants commissioned to help the saints.
  • They are spirits sent from God to care for those who will receive salvation.

LESSON OUTLINE ONE: ANGELS ARE CREATED BEINGS

  1. Angels are among the invisible beings made by the Almighty God. Colossians 1:17
    Angels do not possess physical bodies. Hebrews1:14
  2. Angels do not marry or procreate. Mark 12:25
  3. Angels are the chariots of God. His chariots of war. Psalm 68:17
  4. They honour God’s commands in detail.
  5. Angels are not to be worshipped or idolised.

LESSON OUTLINE TWO: ANGELS SERVE GOD

a. Divine visitation can come through angels on divine assignment. Luke 1, Genesis 18
b. Angels are assigned to protect believers in Christ. Psalm 91:11-12.
c. Angels are creatures, not to be worshipped. Romans 1:24-25.
d. God uses angels to work out destinies of men and nations. Luke 15:10
e. Angels are not heirs of God but Christians through redemption. Romans 8:17
f. Angels excel in humankind in their knowledge. 2 Samuel 14:20
g. Angels enjoy far great power than men. 2 Thessalonians 1:17
h. They ascribe honour, glory to the Lamb of God. Revelation 5:11-12
i. Every believer will join the assignment of angels in heaven one day. 1 Peter 3:18

SUMMARY: Angels are a divine agency to communicate God’s plans and program to humanity.

CONCLUSION: Angels are messengers from God who protect humans and help them find spiritual nourishment; they are mandated by God to give God’s children divine revelation.

WEEKLY ACTIVITY: What are angels’ job on earth?

  3. Father, please envelope my life with your fire.
  4. Father, cause me to praise you at all times like angels do.

THURSDAY: Angels of God are commissioned on a believer’s way to drive out strangers, illegal occupants from their domain. Exodus 33:2

FRIDAY: Angels can oppose your assignment that is not divine. Numbers 22:6

SATURDAY: Angels can bring a message of commissioning you for a divine assignment. Judges 6:11-12

SUNDAY: You can also bring angels to your side to help and aid your path to greatness.
