TOPIC: You Are Responsible For Your Choices (TREM Devotional 3 September 2026)
And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, Surely it is the king of Israel. And they turned aside to fight against him: and Jehoshaphat cried out. – 1 Kings 22:32 KJV
MESSAGE
Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah, was one of the best kings in Israel. Unlike the other kings of Israel who disobeyed God, he walked in the ways of God. But when it comes to choices, Jehoshaphat made some wrong choices.
Beloved, you must understand that you are responsible for the outcome of any choice you make. God gives us the power of choice. You can choose the type of house you want to live in, the type of car you want to drive, the husband or wife you want to marry, the type of friends you want to have, and the type of battle you want to fight.
Usually, when you want to fight a battle, you count the cost. But this time around, Jehoshaphat made a choice of going into a battle with the king of Israel, and God was not pleased with it.
You see, when it comes to the things of God, there are no emotions or sentiments. It is very important that you find out what the will of God is. It is not about whether the person is your brother, sister, or husband. It is about the will of God concerning the matter.
Also, understand that the fact that you are serving God with all your heart, or you are living for God, does not give you immunity from satanic attacks. We live in a world that is inundated with evil and wickedness. So, when you make a wrong choice, you will face the consequences.
Jehoshaphat went into battle to fight alongside Ahab, the king of Israel. If not for the mercies of God, Jehoshaphat would have been killed. He made a wrong choice! Be careful what you choose. Be careful who you come into alliance with. Choose wisely. Remember that “…whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him.” – Ecclesiastes 10:8 KJV
