TOPIC – Teamwork Should Be Encouraged
READ: 1 Kings 7:48-51 (KJV)
48 And Solomon made all the vessels that pertained unto the house of the Lord: the altar of gold, and the table of gold, whereupon the shewbread was,
49 And the candlesticks of pure gold, five on the right side, and five on the left, before the oracle, with the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs of gold,
50 And the bowls, and the snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers of pure gold; and the hinges of gold, both for the doors of the inner house, the most holy place, and for the doors of the house, to wit, of the temple.
51 So was ended all the work that king Solomon made for the house of the Lord. And Solomon brought in the things which David his father had dedicated; even the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, did he put among the treasures of the house of the Lord.
THE MESSAGE:
In the narrative of the building of the temple by Solomon, Hiram took responsibility for the work in bronze, while Solomon was in charge of the work in gold. At the close of the narrative about the temple project, attention shifted from Hiram to Solomon: “Solomon also made all the furnishings for the house of the LORD” (v. 48). Solomon’s furnishings were made from gold, and included the altar, the table carrying the shewbread (v. 48), the ten lamp stands (v. 49), the censers, and the hinges for the doors, both of the temple and of the Most Holy Place (v. 50). The furnishings of gold by Solomon concluded the temple project (v. 51a), alongside David’s dedicated items of silver and gold brought into the temple treasuries by Solomon (v. 51b). Thus, the temple was ready for worship.
The completion of the temple was achieved because of teamwork. Hiram worked the bronze and Solomon worked the gold. David’s dedicated items of silver and gold were also needed to complete the temple. As Solomon followed the Holy Spirit’s plan to build the temple (1 Chron. 28:11-12), utilizing teamwork to complete it, so should we follow God’s plan for our lives, allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us in utilizing our individual gifts in service to God. Relationships require teamwork. Marriage requires cooperation; family and church life require cooperation. Be a team player from today!
