TOPIC – The Prodigal Experience (2) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Devotional 5 October 2026)

11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:
12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.
14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.

MFM Devotional For Today 2026 MESSAGE:
There are some lessons to learn from the experience of the prodigal son. Firstly, God doesn’t delight in the death of sinners; He rather desires their salvation. This, however, does not give license to commit sin. God frowns deeply at sin and iniquity. Interestingly, many of us are like the prodigal son; once lost, but God Almighty, who is slow to anger, found us.
Just as God opens His arms to take the lost back home with love, Christians are expected to do likewise. It may not necessarily be one’s biological child as in this text, it could be any of your loved ones. Remember, the father of the prodigal son rejoiced at his return. He warmly embraced him with open arms, gave him a change of garment, and also decorated him. Heaven rejoices because of every “lost but found soul.”

Dearly Beloved of God, how many of such have you been privileged to welcome home? Or, have you succeeded in sending them back to their vomit through your negative attitude and uncomplimentary character? Older Christians should engage in intercessory prayers for the return of the prodigal. He will definitely “come to himself” at God’s own time. This is the turning point! He is left to preach to himself, “I shall arise….”. As it is written, “There is a way that seems right to man, the end of it is destruction” (Proverbs 16:25).
God is still in the business of welcoming prodigals home. Are you a mere church goer or a backsliding Christian? You can find your way back. Or, are you a total unbeliever? The call to salvation is ever fresh. Learn from the prodigal son. Reconsider your life. Pray to God concerning any prodigal son or daughter around you. Are you on the right track? If not, do a complete turnaround. You shall be welcome back into the fold. God will give you a new garment, and you shall be decorated and celebrated. God delights in the lost that is found, even you. Get ready to return to Christ today.

- Father, forgive me for straying from the path of life, in the Name of Jesus.
- Enemy of my salvation, you are a liar, die, in the Name of Jesus.
- Powers assigned to send me on the wrong journey in life, release me and die, in the Name of Jesus.
EVENING
- Father, let every prodigal son or daughter come to themselves and find their way back to You, in the Name of Jesus.
- (Mention name), you shall not be lost in the wilderness of life, come back to the Truth, in the Name of Jesus.
- Every agenda of destruction set up for me, or (mention name), fail woefully and be destroyed, in the Name of Jesus.
- O God, arise; set my feet on the path of life, in the Name of Jesus.
