TOPIC – Music Can Edify Or Corrupt (Open Heaven for Teens, 5 October 2026)

MEMORISE: Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; – Ephesians 5:19

BIBLE READING: Ephesians 5:19-20

19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

MESSAGE:

The music you listen to has a powerful influence on your thoughts, emotions, and actions. Music was designed by God, not for entertainment, but as a tool to worship and connect with Him. Singing or listening to Songs that glorify Him can uplift your spirit and keep you focused on His love, even on tough days. Gospel music isn’t boring; it is diverse, full of energy, and packed with messages of hope. Even though I love singing hymns and playing the piano to some lyrics, I now listen to some recent gospel songs on YouTube, which I know are inspired by the Holy Spirit, and I get edified.

My dear child, do the songs you listen to produce peace and joy or stir up negativity and immoral thoughts in you? I want you to intentionally create a playlist that energizes your soul, lifts your mood, and reminds you of God’s faithfulness. Download songs that glorify God from now on so that you will protect your heart, align your mind with His truth, and uplift your soul. May you only listen to songs that edify your soul and not corrupt it, in Jesus’ name.

REFLECTION:
Does the kind of music you listen to
edify or corrupt you?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Deuteronomy 2-4

HYMN 4 – Be Glad In The Lord And Rejoice

1 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
All ye that are upright in heart;
And ye that have made him your choice,
Bid sadness and sorrow depart.

Refrain:
Rejoice, rejoice!
Be glad in the Lord and rejoice!

2 Be joyful, for He is the Lord,
On earth and in heaven supreme;
He fashions and rules by His word;
The Mighty and strong to redeem

3 What though in the conffict for right
Your enemies almost prevail,
God’s armies, just hid from your sight,
Are more than the foes which assail.

4 Though darkness surround you by day,
Your sky by the night be o’ercast,
Let nothing your spirit dismay,
But trust till the danger is past.

5 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice,
His praises proclaiming in song;
With harp, and with organ and voice
The loud hallelujahs prolong!
