BIBLE READING: 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5

3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

5 Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:

MESSAGE:

My teenage years were filled with so much excitement, and I had many men who crushed on me because l was a princess. However, I knew the importance of setting goals and godly boundaries in relationships. Some of those men asked for my hand in marriage, but I didn’t oblige until I was sure of the qualities I wanted in a man who truly loves me.

Setting clear boundaries will protect you from emotional and physical attachments that you’re not ready for. You can set the following boundaries: limit spending time alone with members of the opposite sex to the barest minimum, don’t stay behind closed doors with a member of the opposite sex alone, don’t hug or hold hands with a member of the opposite sex beyond a handshake, et cetera.

Setting clear physical boundaries demonstrates that you honour God in your relationships with others, especially members of the opposite sex. It further indicates that you respect your body as God’s temple. My dear child, after setting godly boundaries in your relationships with people, it is important to state such boundaries to them clearly and abide by them intentionally.

REFLECTION:
Do you have clear boundaries in your relationships?

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Mark 12:1-27 Deuteronomy 5-7

HYMN 55 – Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose

1 Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose;
Hear Thy Guardian Angel Say,
“Thou Art In The Midst Of Foes:
Watch And Pray!”

2 Principalities And Powers,
Mustering Their Unseen Array,
Wait For Thy Unguarded Hours:
“Watch And Pray.”

3 Gird Thy Heavenly Armour On;
Wear It Every Night And Day
Ambush’d Lies The Evil One:
“Watch And Pray.”

4 Hear The Victors Who O’ercame;
Still They Mark Each Warrior’s Way;
All With One Sweet Voice Exclaim,
“Watch And Pray!”

5 Hear, Above AlI, Hear Thy Lord,
Him Thou Lovest To Obey;
Hide Within Thy Heart His Word:
“Watch And Pra!.”

6 Watch, As If On That Alone
Hung The Issue Of The Day;
Pray, That Help May Be Sent Down:
Watch And Pray.
