TOPIC – Online Friendship (Open Heaven for Teens, 7 October 2026)

MEMORISE: Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners. – 1 Corinthians 15:33

BIBLE READING: Proverbs 13:19-21

19 The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul: but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.

20 He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.

21 Evil pursueth sinners: but to the righteous good shall be repayed.

MESSAGE:

When I was growing up, there was no internet, so friendships were formed in person, and our parents guided us in choosing the right friends. However, the present-day reality is far from this. The internet offers endless opportunities to connect with people from all over the world, but I must let you know that not every online friendship is healthy. Today’s memory verse warns that bad company corrupts good morals, even in the digital space. You must be very careful about who you allow into your personal space. When interacting with people online, ensure that your interactions align with your faith and godly values. Today’s Bible reading also emphasises the need to test every spirit. Also, you need to ask God for wisdom to determine whether a connection will be beneficial or harmful to you.

My dear child, when someone reaches out to become your online friend, pray about it and ensure that your conversations glorify God. Set boundaries on social media usage and avoid blogs that thrive on gossip, nudity, negativity, and any content that does not glorify God. I pray that God will guide you in choosing your online friends, in Jesus’ name.

KEY POINT:
When making friends online, remain true to your Christian identitų.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Mark 12:28-44 Deuteronomy 8-10

HYMN 55 – Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose

1 Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose;
Hear Thy Guardian Angel Say,
“Thou Art In The Midst Of Foes:
Watch And Pray!”

2 Principalities And Powers,
Mustering Their Unseen Array,
Wait For Thy Unguarded Hours:
“Watch And Pray.”

3 Gird Thy Heavenly Armour On;
Wear It Every Night And Day
Ambush’d Lies The Evil One:
“Watch And Pray.”

4 Hear The Victors Who O’ercame;
Still They Mark Each Warrior’s Way;
All With One Sweet Voice Exclaim,
“Watch And Pray!”

5 Hear, Above AlI, Hear Thy Lord,
Him Thou Lovest To Obey;
Hide Within Thy Heart His Word:
“Watch And Pra!.”

6 Watch, As If On That Alone
Hung The Issue Of The Day;
Pray, That Help May Be Sent Down:
Watch And Pray.
