TOPIC – Heroes Of Faith: Samuel (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Devotional 10 October 2026)
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Jeremiah 19, Jeremiah 20, Acts 6, Acts 7.
FIRE SCRIPTURE: 1 Samuel 7:3-13 (KJV)
3 And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
4 Then the children of Israel did put away Baalim and Ashtaroth, and served the Lord only.
5 And Samuel said, Gather all Israel to Mizpeh, and I will pray for you unto the Lord.
6 And they gathered together to Mizpeh, and drew water, and poured it out before the Lord, and fasted on that day, and said there, We have sinned against the Lord. And Samuel judged the children of Israel in Mizpeh.
7 And when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel were gathered together to Mizpeh, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard it, they were afraid of the Philistines.
8 And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the Lord our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.
9 And Samuel took a sucking lamb, and offered it for a burnt offering wholly unto the Lord: and Samuel cried unto the Lord for Israel; and the Lord heard him.
10 And as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel: but the Lord thundered with a great thunder on that day upon the Philistines, and discomfited them; and they were smitten before Israel.
11 And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and smote them, until they came under Bethcar.
12 Then Samuel took a stone, and set it between Mizpeh and Shen, and called the name of it Ebenezer, saying, Hitherto hath the Lord helped us.
13 So the Philistines were subdued, and they came no more into the coast of Israel: and the hand of the Lord was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

MFM Devotional For Today 2026 MESSAGE:
We have a wonderful character to study today — Samuel. It’s pretty obvious that he deserves a mention in the hall of faith because he lived all his life in faith and total obedience to God. The Bible records that God let none of His words fall to the ground; that’s a great honour bestowed by God on a man.

Unlike Samson, Samuel honoured his Nazirite consecration from childhood to adulthood (1 Samuel 1:11). Samuel did not just stay in the temple; he actually dwelt in the presence of God. He heard the voice of God as a child even though the Word of God was scarce in those days (1 Samuel 3:1,10).
Samuel was a priest, a judge, a prophet, an intercessor, in Israel. In our Fire Scripture, we read how Samuel led the people to repentance and prayed for them. The Lord thundered with a great thunder upon the Philistines and delivered His people. Then, Samuel set up the stone called Ebenezer, thus acknowledging God as their Helper.
Samuel was the last of the judges and the one who anointed Israel’s first king. Even though he was displeased by Israel’s request for a king because he knew it was made from a place of rebellion, he obeyed God and gave them a king. Still, he continued to intercede for the people of God and their king (1 Samuel 12:23). When you are faced with rebellion, how do you react?
In his farewell address, he was bold enough to challenge the Israelites to come openly and accuse him if he had robbed or cheated anyone (1 Samuel 12:3–4). This showed how upright he was. In this instance, he mirrored Jesus who said, “… the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me” (John 14:30). This is a great lesson.
Beloved, we have studied several heroes of faith. Make up your mind today to be celebrated in Heaven’s sight. Remember, if you commit your life to God in faith, He will keep you till the very end. God bless you, in Jesus’ Name.
