SCRIPTURE: So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. – Romans 10:17
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Nothing is qualified to be called faith if it is not founded on the Word of God.
Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2026 MESSAGE
The Word of God is the foundation upon which genuine and functional faith is built. Without the Word, anything that appears to be faith could simply be positive thinking or wishful thinking.

The truth is, faith begins with the Word. The Word of God is the foundation for faith. Nothing is qualified to be called faith if it is not founded on the Word of God.
Now, why is the Word of God the foundation for faith?
- The Word of God is the raw material for faith
Romans 10:8 says, But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; The Word of God is the Word of faith. It is the raw material and foundation for faith. The Word is the major ingredient for functional faith.
Romans 10:17 says, So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. That is, faith comes by hearing and understanding the Word of God.
Furthermore, Hebrews 11:3 says, Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
You can never see faith without the Word of God. Faith is available because the Word is available. The availability of the Word is the availability of faith.
- Faith is ruggedly rooted in the Word
Possessors of the Word are possessors of faith. Hebrews 13:7 says, Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follows, considering the end of their conversation.
Someone may say, “I believe that I cannot be sick.” Why? And they may answer with something like: “Since I was born, I don’t fall sick.” That is not faith; that is mere positivistic thinking.
But when you say, “I believe that I cannot be sick,” because Isaiah 53:5 says, …with his stripes we are healed. That is faith!
You may say, “I believe that I cannot be a victim of the wicked agents of the earth.” Why? Not because your family cannot be attacked, but because it is written, He suffered no man to do them wrong; yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm (Psalm 105:14–15). And, because it is written, Thou shalt lie down, and none shall make thee afraid (Job 11:19).
Beloved, faith is ruggedly rooted in the Word because it is what God says. Do not build your faith on experience, personality, courage, family background or anything outside the Word of God. The Word of God is the basis of faith. What God has said is what gives faith its foundation, functionality and potency.
REMEMBER THIS: Nothing is qualified to be called faith if it is not founded on the Word of God.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
- Give yourself continually to the study and understanding of the Word of God.
- Identify God’s Word concerning every area where you desire to exercise faith.
- Refuse to base your faith on experience, feelings or human ability; stand on what God has said.
PRAYER: Father, thank You for the light of Your Word to me. Give me insight into Your Word and establish my faith firmly on what You have said. Help me to walk by faith, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
