TOPIC – Joy Cometh
READ: John 16:21-24
21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
22 And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
23 And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.
THE MESSAGE:
Through the lens of Scriptures and from nature, we see that life is structured to function in seasons. From Ecclesiastes 3:4, there is a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning (Psa. 30:5). Today, we see Jesus preparing the hearts of His disciples concerning His death and the consequent sorrow and weeping that would follow it, on the part of the disciples. But joy would come when they saw the resurrected Christ. He cited the example of a woman who in labour has sorrow because her hour has come, but who, as soon as she gives birth, will no longer remember the anguish.
One sign of this coming season of joy, is the unprecedented answers to prayer. It is a common experience in our Christian journey to come to seasons when God seems to be silent. If this is your present experience, don’t give up. Wait on the Lord, another season will come when God will attend to our prayers. He is the One who ordains times and seasons. Your season of joy will come!
PRAYER:
Faithful Father, I believe your Word. May my season of joy come.
