The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigerian Immigrations Service (NIS) have debunked reports by All Progressives Congress (APC) that they ordered the withdrawal of their officers and men from border posts in Kebbi, Katsina and Sokoto states.

The APC raised the alarm on Monday over what it described a strange directive ordering the withdrawal of Customs, Immigration and other security personnel from the country’s border posts in Kebbi and Katsina States, wondering what purpose such a directive would serve.

But the National Public Relations Officer of the NCS, Wale Adeniyi, said the Customs, rather than withdraw its men, had deployed more hands to fortify security in all border posts across the country.

Also speaking, the spokesman of the NIS, Chukwuemeka Obua, said: “The CGIS wish to emphatically state that there is no such circular or directive given to the Immigration Service or its personnel at Kebbi and Katsina states’ commands.”
