TOPIC: Facts Of The Gospel
READ: 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 (NKJV)
- Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand,
- by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you — unless you believed in vain.
- For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
- and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures,
- and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.
- After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep.
- After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles.
- Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.
THE MESSAGE:
According to Daniel Patrick Moynihan quote: “Everyone is entitled to his own opinion, but not his one fact.” a fact is something that is known to or to exist and there’s that the Gospel as presented in the scriptures, has a divine origin; he didn’t invent the Gospel, but faithfully transmitted what he received, proving it’s God’s truth, not human opinion, personal bias or view about salvation (verse 3). Secondly, He presented the critical elements of the Gospel which are: the death of Jesus Christ by crucifixion; Christ’s death was for our sins; Christ was buried after He was certified dead and Christ also resurrected on the third day (verses 3-4).
Lastly, Paul presented verifiable evidence to show that these elements in the Gospel are not mere religious opinions, platitudes, fictions, or fairy tales; rather, they are actual, real historical events with human witnesses, he being the last of them (verses 5-8).
Friend, what Gospel did you receive? Is your “Gospel” based on facts from the scripture, or are there other additions? Does it align with the true Gospel passed down through generations? If you notice any variation in your “Gospel” (embellishments or removals), I counsel you to seek a redress.
PRAYER: Help me Lord never to be lured into error in Jesus’ name, Amen!
