TOPIC: Divine Visitation And Blessing

READ: 2 Samuel 6:10-12 (NKJV)

  1. So David would not move the ark of the LORD with him into the City of David; but David took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.
  2. The ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months. And the LORD blessed Obed-Edom and all his household.
  3. Now it was told King David, saying, “The LORD has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that [belongs] to him, because of the ark of God.” So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness.

THE MESSAGE:

After seeing how Uzzah was struck dead for touching the ark of God, David became afraid that he could no longer bring the Ark to the City of David. He decided to take the ark to the house of Obed-Edom. The ark was there for three months and the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and his household so much that everyone saw it. God’s blessing upon the household of Obed-Edom shows how the presence of God can turn around the situation of a man. The presence of God in the life of a man causes the heavens to open and pour down divine blessings. The glory of a man cannot be hidden when he is visited by God because divine visitation comes with divine blessings. The ark of God probably would not have been in the house of Obed-Edom without his consent. As long as the ark of God was in the house of Obed-Edom, he experienced an outpouring of divine blessing.

Beloved, you need to note these two requirements for receiving the blessing of God. The first is your willingness to allow the presence of God in your life. The second is to live a life that is habitable for God – a holy life that can retain His presence. God has so much in store for you as His child (1 Corinthians 2:9) and He desires to visit you with His glory and cause His divine presence to abide with you. All you need to do is to make room for Him (Revelation 3:20).

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, help me to live a life that attracts Your divine presence in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
