- And so it was, when those bearing the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, that he sacrificed oxen and fatted sheep.

- So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet.
THE MESSAGE
Worship is a respectful devotion and allegiance to God. It includes the rituals or ceremonies by which this reverence is expressed. C.S. Lewis said, “We praise what we enjoy because the praise not merely expresses but completes the enjoyment. It is not out of compliment that lovers keep on telling one another how beautiful they are; the delight is incomplete till it is expressed.”
Expression of worship is important in our relationship with God. David danced “before the Lord with all his might.” With that expression, one can say that he was really into what he was doing. He worshiped God wholeheartedly: He laid aside his beautiful, kingly robes and wore the priestly attire of service (v. 14). He forgot about his position, wealth and age, and worshiped the King of kings.
He was in the company of common men. Dear Friend, note that God is a Spirit and He must be worshiped as such (John 4:24). The worship of God is not an act to be performed carelessly. It should come from the depth of our hearts in total submission to the Holy Spirit. As you worship God every day in the beauty of his holiness, you need to surrender to him and his will (Psa. 23:1).
You must express your worship by giving your substance to him (v.13); joyfully dancing is also an act of worship (vv. 14 &15; Psa. 149:2-3). All things were made to worship God in the beauty of his holiness (Psa. 150:4). Learn to worship God wholeheartedly (Isa. 43:21).
PRAYER:
Father, help me to understand the essence of true worship in Jesus’ Name, Amen!
