TOPIC: Developing Intimacy With God

READ: Ephesians 1:13-23 (NKJV)

  1. In Him you also [trusted,] after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
  2. who is the guarantee of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of His glory.
  3. Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,
  4. do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers:
  5. that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him,
  6. the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints,
  7. and what [is] the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power
  8. which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated [Him] at His right hand in the heavenly [places,]
  9. far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.
  10. And He put all [things] under His feet, and gave Him [to be] head over all [things] to the church,
  11. which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

THE MESSAGE:

Upon believing in the Gospel of salvation, the believer receives the Spirit of sonship – God’s seal of ownership. This is the first down-payment or instalment of what is to come. That is, a guarantee that we will certainly get everything God has planned for us. All that we will ever experience or become within the circumference of His purpose for us, is by this first instalment, the Holy Spirit. It is to this end that Paul prayed that the Father of glory will give unto us the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, and that the eyes of our understanding be enlightened.

The Holy Spirit opens us up to the unimaginable resources locked up in God. So that as we desire more of Him in a deepening intimacy, we are able to know the hope God has called us to share in Christ Jesus, the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and how incredibly great His power is to help those who believe Him. From today, desire to be more intimate with the Holy Spirit and be exposed to greater possibilities in God.

PRAYER: Father, flood my heart with Your light. May I live in the reality of all that Christ has done for me.
