Topic: Like A Thief In The Night
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Luke 21:33. Read: Matt 24:36-46
Thieves walk in the dead hour of the night, a time no man is aware. Whenever a thief wants to visit a man, he doesn’t give a prior visitation letter but comes suddenly upon such a man. Jesus told us the reason in Matthew 24:43 “But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up”. He would have taken every security measures to keep his house from invasion. In like manner Jesus told His disciples (all believers) that His coming also will be like that of a thief in the night. He told them (us) that we should consciously and continuously prepare for His second coming so that we will not be caught unaware like others. Whether anyone believes it or not, Jesus is coming on a day unspecified. Virtually all the signs mentioned before His great arrival has taken place, this imply that the trumpet could sound any moment from now.
When the disciples ask Him the time, He told them, He didn’t know but only the Father knows. Is Jesus and the Father different? Of course, no, They are one. Jesus probably replied them such because He knows if He had told them the time, day and Month, men will swim in sin and wickedness till a minute to the time before they surrender their lives to Jesus. In your patience for His coming, possess your soul.
The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, He will SURELY come. Are you ready?
