KEY VERSE: “For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not self-willed, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre” (Titus 1:7).
TEXT: Titus 1:6-10 (KJV)
6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;
8 But a lover of hospitality, a lover of good men, sober, just, holy, temperate;
9 Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.

DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
In an online material titled “Leading with Faith and Perseverance,” the story of James Hudson Taylor who lived between 1832 and 1905 and worked as a missionary to China demonstrates the qualities that make a minister of God stand out as a true servant of God. Hudson Taylor was a British missionary who founded the China Inland Mission (now OMF International) in 1865. Taylor’s leadership was characterized by his deep faith, innovative methods, and cultural sensitivity. He adopted Chinese dress and customs to better connect with the people he served. Despite facing numerous challenges, including illness, financial difficulties, and opposition, Taylor persevered. His leadership led to the establishment of hundreds of churches and the spread of the gospel throughout China. Taylor’s story emphasizes the importance of selflessness, submission to the will of God, prayerfulness, faith, cultural sensitivity, and perseverance in Christian leadership.
Given the challenges and heavy responsibilities that are attached to leadership in the house of God, Apostle Paul through the Spirit of God, emphasises the need for well-qualified and mature Christians to occupy ministerial leadership. Such must have a sound moral character, which should be clear evidence of his genuine relationship with Christ, must also have his temper and appetite under his control and must not be greedy or covetous. An effective and spiritually sound leader must possess the knowledge and ability to effectively teach the word of God and demonstrate a loving lifestyle and hospitable disposition. These are the true selfless shepherds Christ Himself recommends and will commend now and on the last day.
Sadly today, many assemblies now parade self-styled church leaders who are more interested in their own personal and selfish benefits (Philippians 3:19). Many are novices and neophytes who lack the basic knowledge of sound doctrines and have no conviction or spiritual backbone to stand and defend the truth. Are you a leader over God’s people? Do you possess all the requisite qualities to become approved of God and an able minister of the gospel?
