TOPIC: Avoid Gossip (Open Heaven for Teens, 25 March 2026)

MEMORISE: Where there is no wood, the fire goes out; And where there is no talebearer, strife ceases. – Proverbs 26:20

BIBLE READING: Leviticus 19:15-16

15 Ye shall do no unrighteousness in judgment: thou shalt not respect the person of the poor, nor honour the person of the mighty: but in righteousness shalt thou judge thy neighbour.

16 Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.

MESSAGE:

Gossip means speaking about someone or a group of people in their absence. This may seem harmless, but it has destroyed many relationships, eroded trust, and disrupted unity. It fuels unnecessary conflicts, especially among young people in schools, churches, and communities. However, when gossip is avoided, peace and harmony thrive.

Today’s Bible reading warns us against gossiping, as God desires that we respect others and avoid harming them through rumours or negative speech. Apostle Paul provides a clear remedy to gossiping in (1 Thessalonians 4:11 KJV), advising Christians:

And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

The Scripture above instructs us to focus on our responsibilities rather than meddle in the affairs of others. As a child of God, avoid engaging in idle talk, whether online or in person. If you have an issue with someone, approach them directly to resolve it, either in person or over the phone. My dear child, please refrain from talking about others in their absence. Anyone who gossips sins against God.

KEY POINT:
Avoid Gossip

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Luke 4:33-44, Joshua 14-15

HYMN 15: When We Walk With The Lord

1 When we walk with the Lord
in the light of his word,
what a glory he sheds on our way!
While we do his good will,
he abides with us still,
and with all who will trust and obey.

Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

2 Not a burden we bear,
not a sorrow we share,
but our toil he doth richly repay;
not a grief or a loss,
not a frown or a cross,
but is blest if we trust and obey. [Refrain]

3 But we never can prove
the delights of his love
until all on the altar we lay;
for the favor he shows,
for the joy he bestows,
are for them who will trust and obey. [Refrain]

4 Then in fellowship sweet
we will sit at his feet,
or we’ll walk by his side in the way;
what he says we will do,
where he sends we will go;
never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain]
