BIBLE READING: Matthew 7:7-8 (KJV)
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
MESSAGE:
In today’s Bible reading, Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.” Therefore, I want you to know that Jesus can give you anything you ask for.
There have been times when I asked God for specific things, and I received much more than what I requested. I recall years ago when I was in London to write the RCCG House Fellowship Manual for the following year. I needed £50 to buy some books and tapes, so I asked God for it. A few hours later, I had some visitors, and they gave me the exact £50 I was praying for when they were leaving. Before the end of that day, God again miraculously provided me with £150. Recently, He reminded me of this incident and said, “If I could provide £150 so easily, why didn’t you ask me for £5,000,000?” You can be sure that since then, I have been asking God for big things that seem to be humanly impossible.
My dear child, do not limit God by asking Him for small things only; He wishes that you would ask Him for big things as well. Ask Him for all things, including the really big things, and believe that He is able to meet and exceed your expectations.
KEY POINT:
Do not be afraid to ask God for big things, trusting that He will answer you.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Matthew 5:27-48 Genesis 15-17
HYMN 27 – What A Friend We Have In Jesus
1 What a Friend we have in Jesus,
All our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer!
O what peace we often forfeit,
O what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer!
2 Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
3 Are we weak and heavy-laden,
Cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee?
Take it to the Lord in prayer;
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee,
Thou wilt find a solace there
