READ: John 19:1-6

1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: 1 Kings 1-2

MESSAGE

Easter is the period for celebrating the crucifixion, death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Every sin needed to be atoned for after Adam and Eve fell in the Garden of Eden. An offender would need to approach a priest who would perform sacrifices of rams, grains, et cetera, on his/her behalf. This worked for a while until God decided to fix the relationship with mankind once and for all. Thus, He sent His only begotten Son as a human being to experience mortal life and then die for the world’s sin.

I count it the greatest privilege for my Lord Jesus Christ to have surrendered Himself as a sacrifice for my sins. If He didn’t do this, I would be condemned to hell forever. So, I charge you to be conscious of this gift that you have been given and surrender your life to Jesus right now if you haven’t. Don’t go about celebrating Easter without understanding the gift of salvation.

KEY POINT

The best way to celebrate Easter today is surrendering your life to Him.
