“…He that gathereth by labour shall increase.”-Proverbs 13:11
I remember back when I was in primary school; we were taught in simple arithmetic that anything multiplied by zero is zero. So, even if you add a billion to zero, it still amounts to nothing because zero takes away value from anything it comes in contact with. So it is with idleness. It zaps away any and everything and leaves an idle mind with nothing to gain.
Your financial relevance and increase has a lot to do with your ability to engage in profitable ventures. There are many people today who like to live “the big life” without wanting to work to earn it. They wish everything and even have big dreams; but have refused to start from where they are and with what they have. Remember, the Bible says “a sluggard desireth and has nothing.”
He has nothing because he has refuses to power that desire through productive work. There is nothing you do today that will not earn you profit; if only you do it diligently and with dogged perseverance. Some people are too choosy for their current status. Yes, God wants to bless you but He needs a channel to bless you through. They say, “I can’t do this type of job.” At the end of the day, they remain jobless and in dire financial need praying for the windows of heaven to send money falling in from the skies. Ignorance keeps them away from understanding that if they had taken up that job, it would amount to something in their hand; possibly even the first step on their ladder to greatness.
The Bible says, “Whatever thou find to do, do it with all thy might.” There is dignity in labour. It is your work that enhances your worth in life. So, instead of being a burden to others and yourself, shun idleness. Dr. David Oyedepo says, “There is nothing extraordinary in itself. It is man’s extraordinary approach that makes it so.” Don’t look down on any job; put in your extraordinary work and attention to make it the dream job you want and God will multiply your diligent labour. Your labour will be profitable in the name of Jesus Christ!
