TOPIC: Loving God (Scroll down for RCCG House Fellowship 16 November 2025 Anthem)
OPENING PRAYER: Father, let your unfailing love be multiplied in my heart today and always in Jesus’ name.
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE: The leaders should remind the members of the last topic on the power of God’s favour and the evidence on the favoured believers.
MEMORY VERSE: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” – John 3:16 (KJV)
BIBLE TEXT: Mark 14:3-4 (KJV)
3 And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
4 And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment made?
LESSON INTRODUCTION: Jesus said the greatest commandment is to ‘love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength and with all your mind, and neighbour as thyself’. Luke 10:27, Mark 12:30. Loving God begins with a decision. It is a purposeful setting of our affections (Colossians 3:2). We cannot truly love God until we know Him; even the faith to believe in God is a gift from Him. Ephesians 2:8-9
LESSON AIM: To make members understand what loving God is and loving what He loves.
TEACHING OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, members should be able to: Understand what loving God is. Know the rewards for loving God.
TEXT REVIEW: Mark 14:3-4.
- God’s love does not differentiate; Jesus was in the house of a former leper, Simon
- Nothing is too expensive to appreciate the OWNER AND GIVER OF LIFE.
- Ingrate sees the sacrifice of love to God as a waste.
- To every act of gratitude, there is provision to another significant level, altitude.
LESSON OUTLINE ONE: LOVE WHAT HE LOVES.
As we grow in the knowledge and understanding of who God is, we begin to love the characteristics that define Him, such as wisdom, truth, righteousness and purity. Love what God loves is a commandment that means to love and care for what God loves and to hate what God hates. You cannot love without hating sin and what satan does to people’s lives. Love means doing what God has commanded us, which includes loving one another.
HERE ARE SOME OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER ABOUT LOVING WHAT GOD LOVES.
- Love people – You should love people more deeply. John 13:24.
- Be kind – You must show kindness to others. Ephesians 4:32.
- Be ready to forgive – Forgiving others is a command. Matthew 6:14.
- Be serene – Leave peacefully with all men. Agape is not easily provoked. Hebrews 12:14.
- Take a stand – Don’t be lukewarm. Let your “yes be yes” and your “no be no”. Mark 5:37.
LESSON OUTLINE TWO: REWARDS FOR LOVING GOD.
Rewards for loving God are so many, just to mention a few:
- Intimacy with God – Genesis 5:22-24.
- Forgiveness of sins – Matthew 6:24.
- Healing – Psalm 147:3
- Answered Prayers – Proverbs 15:29.
- Prosperity – 3 John 2.
- God’s Presence – Psalm 16:11
- Joy Unspeakable. Nehemiah 8:10
SUMMARY: We are to make a purposeful decision to love God.
CONCLUSION: Loving God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength is not only a commandment but a gateway to a life filled with blessings, guidance, peace, purpose and eternal hope. As we devote ourselves to loving Him, we will experience an intimate relationship, grow spiritually and true purpose.
WEEKLY ACTIVITY: Let members share their testimonies of God’s rewards they have experienced in His service.
