TOPIC: Destiny Destroyers (RCCG Sunday School Manual For Young Adults And Youths (YAYA)

MEMORY VERSE: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” – Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV)

BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Kings 11:1-6 (KJV) (Scroll down for RCCG Sunday School 21 December 2025 HYMN)

1 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites:

2 Of the nations concerning which the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.

3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.

4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.

5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.

6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord, as did David his father.

INTRODUCTION: Destiny is God’s divine purpose and preplanned destination for a person’s life. It represents the totality of God’s counsel and what He has ordained for an individual even before conception (Jeremiah 1:5). While destiny is a beautiful and purposeful plan, it is still influenced by one’s attitude and willingness to align with God’s will. Failure to do so may expose us to destiny destroyers-things that could derail or hinder the fulfilment of God’s plan for our lives. By staying obedient and trusting in God’s direction, we can walk in the fullness of the destiny He has prepared for us.

LESSON OUTLINE

  1. EXAMPLES OF DESTINY DESTROYERS
  2. BIBLICAL INSTANCES

1. EXAMPLES OF DESTINY DESTROYERS

  1. Ignorance: Lack of knowledge of God’s plan for our lives is a significant destiny destroyer (Hosea 4:6). When we are unaware of our purpose, we may lack focus, leading to destruction. True knowledge of the truth sets us free and guides us toward our destiny (John 8:32).
  2. Pursuit of Vanity: Solomon’s pursuit of vanity and wealth led to his backsliding and loss of rection. Failure to manage wealth and the lack of self-control can derail one’s destiny (Ecclesiastes 2:10-11).
  3. Lack of Faith: This can destroy destiny by hindering our ability to trust and rely on God’s guidance (1 Timothy 1:19; Hebrews 11:6).
  4. Pride: Unreasonable and inordinate self-esteem can lead to a fall and hinder the fulfilment of one’s destiny. Pride leads to divine resistance (James 4:6).
  5. Sinful Lifestyles: Unconfessed sin provokes God’s anger and prevents a person from fulfilling destiny. Living in sin hinders both earthly purpose and eternal promise (1 John 3:4).
  6. Anger: Uncontrolled anger can cause individuals to deviate from God’s purpose, leading to missed opportunities and destruction (Proverbs 29:22).
  7. Laziness: Slothfulness prevents individuals from fulfilling their potential, leaving them perpetually under the influence of more industrious individuals (Proverbs 12:24).
  8. Prayerlessness: This creates openings for the enemy to attack one’s destiny. Prayer is crucial for maintaining alignment with God’s purpose (Matthew 13:25).

To fulfil our destiny, we must avoid these destroyers.

2. BIBLICAL INSTANCES

  1. Judas Iscariot: He allowed greed and betrayal to destroy his destiny. Judas betrayed Jesus and his actions led to his tragic end (Matthew 27:3-5).
  2. Demas: Once a companion of the apostle Paul, he abandoned his faith and ministry, choosing worldly desires over his divine calling. His love for the world ultimately led to the destruction of his destiny (2 Timothy 4:10).
  3. Gehazi: The greedy servant of Elisha who lied and took gifts unlawfully. This singular action resulted in the curse of leprosy upon him and his descendants (2 Kings 5:20-27).
  4. Reuben: Jacob’s firstborn who lost his birthright due to illicit sex with his father’s concubine. His actions led to a forfeiture of his position and inheritance (Genesis 49:3-4).
  5. Achan: His disobedience in taking spoils from Jericho led to the destruction of his family and the defeat of Israel in battle. His sin resulted in the loss of his life and that of his household (Joshua 7:24-25).

CONCLUSION: To avoid destiny destroyers and fulfil God’s purpose for our lives, we must fully surrender to Him and align ourselves with His will.

FURTHER READINGS:

Sunday: John 14:2-3 (KJV)
2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

Monday: 1 Corinthians 2:9 (KJV)
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

Tuesday: Romans 8:28-32 (KJV)
28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified. 31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

Wednesday: Psalm 23:1 (KJV)
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

Thursday: Ecclesiastes 12:8 (KJV)
Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.

Friday: 2 Kings 5:20-27 (KJV)
20 But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my master hath spared Naaman this Syrian, in not receiving at his hands that which he brought: but, as the Lord liveth, I will run after him, and take somewhat of him. 21 So Gehazi followed after Naaman. And when Naaman saw him running after him, he lighted down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Is all well? 22 And he said, All is well. My master hath sent me, saying, Behold, even now there be come to me from mount Ephraim two young men of the sons of the prophets: give them, I pray thee, a talent of silver, and two changes of garments. 23 And Naaman said, Be content, take two talents. And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and laid them upon two of his servants; and they bare them before him. 24 And when he came to the tower, he took them from their hand, and bestowed them in the house: and he let the men go, and they departed. 25 But he went in, and stood before his master. And Elisha said unto him, Whence comest thou, Gehazi? And he said, Thy servant went no whither. 26 And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his chariot to meet thee? Is it a time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants? 27 The leprosy therefore of Naaman shall cleave unto thee, and unto thy seed for ever. And he went out from his presence a leper as white as snow.

Saturday: Judges 16:6-18 (KJV)
6 And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee. 7 And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man. 8 Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them. 9 Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known. 10 And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound. 11 And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man. 12 Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread. 13 And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web. 14 And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web. 15 And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth. 16 And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death; 17 That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother’s womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man. 18 And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.
