SCRIPTURE: And the LORD said unto her, Two nations are in thy womb, and two manner of people shall be separated from thy bowels; and the one people shall be stronger than the other people; and the elder shall serve the younger. Genesis 25:23

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: How you live now determines how you will end in time and in eternity.

Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2026 MESSAGE

The story of Esau and Jacob is one remarkable story that captures many lessons relevant to the journey of life and destiny. Esau and Jacob were products of one conception, with the same mother and father. The same circumstance of life connected them to the same ancestral God, born on the same day, grew up together, but ended up differently.

The big question is: what happened? What tore the twins apart in two contrary directions?

The 34th verse of the 25th Chapter of the Book of Genesis pointed out something insightful – Character. There was a character trait that limited Esau; it says, Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way: thus Esau despised his birthright. Esau engaged in a senseless transaction that cost him his future. He exchanged his birthright for food. He traded away his future for the satisfaction of immediate hunger. Imagine that! It wasn’t food that would last him a whole day, one month, one year, or a lifetime, but food that would satisfy his hunger for just a moment, after which the hunger would return. The outcome of that was that when it was time for the blessing to be given, Esau lost his chance to be blessed.

What was the problem with Esau? It is called character bankruptcy.

Beloved, character is the greatest wealth anyone can possess. The greatest asset of anyone on earth, apart from the presence of God, is the wealth of character.

Esau’s greatest lack was the lack of character, not the lack of people, money, or any other thing.

The time comes when the intelligence of people will fail, money and connection will fail, but character can’t fail.

Character determines authority, both physical and spiritual authority. The Bible says, “The elder shall serve the younger” (Genesis 25:23), and the reason was not because God was partial, but rather because the elder lacked character to undergird his authority.

Now, what is the power of character? We shall be looking at two of them in today’s study.

  1. Character determines distinction. The Scripture says two manners of people shall be separated… (Genesis 25:23). Character determines distinction or excellence. What it means is that your character can make you stand out or fall out. Character determines distinction. To be a person of dignity and honour is a matter of character.
  2. Character determines outcome. Your roadmap to your destiny is your character. How you live now determines how you will end in time and in eternity. Samson was a man of great potential, but he had zero character, so he ended as a victim of battle with his two eyes plucked out of their sockets at the frequency of character bankruptcy.

There is a connection between character and destiny. There is a connection between your behaviour and your becoming. You cannot maintain a lifestyle of stealing and end well. You cannot maintain the habit of smoking, womanizing, or prostitution and end well in life and in eternity.

Beloved, pay attention to your character because attention to character equals attention to your life and destiny.

Remember this: How you live now determines how you will end in time and in eternity.

ASSIGNMENT (S):

  1. Always think about the consequences of every action before taking it.
  2. Avoid the lifestyle of sin.
  3. Spend time with God to expose your character and evil tendencies (Isaiah6:1-5)

PRAYER: Lord, draw me closer to You. Help me to make profitable transactions in life. I refuse to exchange my future with the pleasure of sin, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
