TOPIC: The Power Of Praise (Seeds Of Destiny 7 March 2026)

SCRIPTURE: But Jezebel his wife came to him, and said unto him, Why is thy spirit so sad, that thou eatest no bread? – 1 Kings 21:5

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Interest builds connection. When you are interested in what interests someone, you gain access to his/her heart.

Seeds Of Destiny For Today 2026 MESSAGE

The most legendary memories of Jezebel are centered around how wicked she was – a certified worshipper of baal, a greedy and materialistic woman known for excessive painting and decoration of her face, an immoral and seductive woman, a heartless and notorious woman, a land grabber and murderer, etc.

However, as we looked through the Scriptures, we made an interesting discovery – there were things in her life that could be learnt.

Unlike other kings of Israel who married many wives, Ahab had only one wife – Jezebel. If Jezebel had been a God-fearing woman, she would have made Ahab one of the greatest kings in Israel. Her influence over him was maximum. And influence is neutral; it can either destroy or build depending on who uses it.

Now, today’s study is unique as it is targeted at making a direct impact on marriages. It is obvious that in our world today, many marriages are being challenged. In fact, there were some marriages that could not survive even for a year. Therefore, it is important to understand key factors that sustain marriages.

We shall be unveiling the positive lessons from the life of Jezebel that will benefit marriages.

  1. Jezebel was Interested in what Interested her husband

Jezebel understood her husband’s interests. She knew his work, job, habits, associates, and the things that mattered to him. She was able to contribute positively to those areas.

And you know, interest builds connection. When you are interested in what interests someone, you gain access to their heart. Some people have zero interest in what matters to their spouses and so they are unable to make positive contributions to their life.

  1. She was available

After Naboth refused to sell his vineyard, Ahab returned home angry and depressed (1Kings 21:2-3). He lay on his bed, turned his face to the wall, and refused to eat. The first person to notice was Jezebel. This shows she was available.

Availability does not mean snooping or invading privacy. It means being close enough to notice when something is wrong. You cannot give your heart to someone who is never available. That is marriage by correspondence—where couples live far apart emotionally or physically for long periods, it is dangerous. When availability is lost, gaps are created, and those gaps can be exploited. How available are you? Can your spouse count on you in moments when things seem tough?

  1. She understood her husband

Jezebel said, …Why is thy spirit so sad? (1Kings 21:5). She understood his mood. She could distinguish between anger, sadness, hunger, and frustration. Some people don’t know when their spouse returned home from work angry or frustrated by events in the office, and they can even add to the anger or frustration instead of alleviating it.

The Bible says, Good understanding giveth favour (Proverbs 13:15). Understanding your spouse’s temperament, likes, dislikes, and preferences brings favour and peace.

  1. She Communicated

Jezebel initiated communication. She did not wait for Ahab to speak. She went to him and asked a gentle question.

Most men do not easily express emotional burdens. When communication is absent at home, those burdens seek expression elsewhere. Everyone needs to talk.

Communication is not nagging. It is showing interest, asking wisely, and creating a safe environment for expression. Jezebel’s question opened the door for Ahab to talk, and in talking, his heart opened further. A home should be the first place a man releases his burdens, not the last.

Beloved, invest in making your home and spouse better, let your home be a fortress of love, understanding, care and most importantly, an abode for the God’s presence.

Remember this: Interest builds connection. When you are interested in what interests someone, you gain access to their heart.

ASSIGNMENT(S):

  1. Be genuinely interested in the lives of those God has placed around you.
  2. Cultivate availability: emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
  3. Learn to understand moods, preferences, and temperaments.

PRAYER: Father, we thank You for Your Word to me today. I ask for grace to apply wisdom in my home. And help me to love everyone around me, Lord, in Jesus Name.
