Topic: Seek What Satisfies! [Teens’ Open Heavens 29th, March 2018]
Memorise: The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep. – Ecclesiastes 5:12
Read: Ecclesiastes 5:9-12 (KJV)
9 Moreover the profit of the earth is for all: the king himself is served by the field.
10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.
11 When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes?
12 The sleep of a labouring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.
Bible In One Year: Joshua 23-24, Luke 6:27-49
MESSAGE:
Most people seek things that are not of eternal value. For example, many people have sought prosperity all their lives, only to discover at the end that it does not satisfy. Ecclesiastes 5:10-11 says that if you love silver, no matter how much of it you acquire, you will never be satisfied. If you are a billionaire, you cannot take more than a regular meal at a time; you will sleep in one room even if your mansion has 100 rooms; you cannot wear more than one dress or pair of shoes at a time, even if you have a room full of them.
In fact, Ecclesiastes 5:12 says that too much wealth may rob the rich of his sleep. Colossians 3:1-2 says you should stop making material things your focus. Anything that is not of eternal value will fade away, leaving you empty handed. What are you seeking? It is time to seek after God. He is the only One who truly satisfies.
Key Point: Seeking and finding God should be your major goal in life. When this is done, He will help you to set and achieve all your minor goals.

Hymn 7:
1. I am Thine 0 Lord, I have heard Thy voice,
And it told Thy love to me;
But I long to rise in the arms of faith
And be closer drawn to Thee.
Chorus
Draw me nearer, nearer blessed Lord
To the cross where Thou hast died;
Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer blessed Lord,
To Thy precious, bleeding side.
2. Consecrate me now to Thy service, Lord,
By the pow’r of grace divine;
Let my soul look up with a steadfast hope,
And my will be lost in Thine.
3. Oh, the pure delight of a single hour
That before Thy throne I spend,
When I kneel in prayer, and with Thee, my God
I commune as friend with friend!
4. There are depths of love that I cannot know
Till I cross the narrow sea;
There are heights of joy that I may not reach
Till I rest in peace with Thee.
