TOPIC: Be Diligent (TREM Devotional 5 January 2026)
“He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent maketh rich.” – Proverbs 10:4 (KJV)
MESSAGE
Beloved, whatever you choose to do in life, do it with diligence. There must be an evident mark of excellence and responsibility in everything you put your hands to. Never hide under the cover of Christianity to excuse laziness. Sadly, some believers have become an embarrassment in this regard.
You assign a task to a child of God, expecting commitment and excellence, but instead, you find carelessness and inconsistency. Why? Because many Christians hide behind spirituality to mask indiscipline. They use prayer meetings and fasting as excuses to neglect their responsibilities. But where did we learn such behavior from? Certainly not from God!
Scripture declares, “O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!” (Psalm 8:9 KJV). If our Father is excellent, then His children ought to reflect that same excellence. How diligent are you? How dependable are you? Can you be trusted with responsibility? Do you approach your work with a sense of seriousness and structure, or do you handle things carelessly? Think about it!
Even our Lord Jesus modeled diligence. When He was only twelve years old, He said, “How is it that ye sought me? Wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?” (Luke 2:49 KJV). Later, He affirmed, “My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.” (John 5:17 KJV). Jesus was intentional and focused about His assignment. Should we, His followers, be any less committed?
Diligence is not something you suddenly develop when you become successful. It is a mindset and a culture you cultivate when you are still small. Be organized. Be structured. Be intentional. Treat your work with seriousness.
If you don’t yet have an office, make your home your office. Wake up early. Dress well. Set clear goals for your day. Conduct yourself as though you are already running a major enterprise. This attitude of diligence and orderliness will determine how far you go in life.
Talent alone is not enough. Many people are gifted but remain stagnant because they lack discipline and structure. Diligence is the bridge between potential and achievement.
Remember, “The hand of the diligent maketh rich.” Develop that culture today, and you will see God prosper the work of your hands.
