A vehicle loaded with 14 goats is now in police custody in Ede, headquarters of Ede South Local Government Area of Osun state.

A police patrol team was up and about in Sekona/Nigerian Army Regiment Construction Company Highway, when they saw a speeding red Mitsubishi car, with plate number XF 467 NND at Sekona junction around 1a.m.

They flagged the driver to stop, but he wouldn’t.

The police team led by one Inspector Ajayi Sunday immediately gave chase, pursuing the driver from Sekona junction to Cemetery Area in Edun-Abon, according to eyewitnesses and media reports.

Seeing that he was losing the Formula 1 race, the driver brought the vehicle to a halt and escaped before the police team could catch up with him. The vehicle and the goats were shepherded to the police station thereafter.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs Folasade Odoro, confirmed that the goats had been detained. She said the goats would remain in police custody until the owner(s) showed up, adding that investigations had begun.
