TOPIC: What Is Easter? (1) (Open Heaven for Teens, 18 April 2025)

MEMORISE: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:7

BIBLE READING: Hebrews 10:19-22

19 Having therefore, brethren, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus,

20 By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

21 And having an high priest over the house of God;

22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

MESSAGE:

Easter is being celebrated in many parts of the world this weekend to commemorate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ which happened over two thousand years ago. This event is the foundation of our salvation and relationship with our heavenly Father.

When Jesus was pierced in His side, His blood gushed out and flowed freely. This blood bought us pardon from our sins, and now, we plead the same blood for protection from evil. It is the blood of Jesus that cleansed me from all my sins and gave me an assurance of eternal life.

The blood of Jesus also gives all Christians direct access to the Father, unlike what pertained in the Old Testament when only the priests could enter the holy of holies. When Jesus died, the veil of the temple was rent from top to bottom, granting us free access to God. This means that you can call on God if you are His child, and He will surely answer you.

PRAYER POINT:
Lord Jesus, I thank you for shedding your blood on the cross to set me free from sin completely.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Joshua 16:1-18:28 Luke 19:1-27

HYMN 62 – On A Hill Far Away Stood An Old Rugged Cross

1 On a hill far away
Stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross slain.
Where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was

Chorus:
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

2 O that old rugged cross,
So despised by the world,
Has a wondrouS attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God
Left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

3 In the old rugged cross,
Stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross
Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

4 To the old rugged cross
I will ever be true,
Its shamne and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day
To my home far away,
Where his glory forever l’Il share.
